In response to recent community feedback about the proposed schedule change that would have started the Basking Ridge Campus day 30 minutes earlier, the School has proposed a new change altogether: rolling start time. In essence, the official school start time will remain the same. But also, get there whenever.
A rolling start time will involve students adhering to the current schedule. Unless they can’t. In which case, all good.
Faculty and staff will be at school on time to make sure students are seated and ready to learn when the day begins. Unless it’s not convenient for them. In which case, we totally get it.
The deans will be, as always, prompt in their attention to school attendance, a longstanding policy which remains unchanged. Unless, of course, students wanna do whatevs.
“We’re not changing a thing,” emphasized Dr. Cottingham. “Show up on time, per usual. And by on time, I mean whatever time makes sense for you."
Rolling start time was settled on after community response to the initial schedule change announced earlier this year, a proposal that was met with, let’s call it, “mixed reviews”.
“We heard you loud and clear,” Dr. Cottingham said, “because you articulated it so loud and so clear.”
Initial feedback to the rolling start times has been positive. One parent already called the rolling start time “a huge relief” and immediately requested a rolling dismissal policy as well.
