Keira Chen '24 Wins National Merit Scholarship

Keira Chen ’24 is a winner of the National Merit $2500 Scholarship, underwritten by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) with its own funds.

National Merit selections take into account SAT scores and leadership of and participation in school and community activities. A pianist, Keira has worked on Tech for the Fall Play, sung in the Glee Club, served as a captain of the Robotics Team, been Copy Editor for the arts and literature magazine Calliope as well as Copy Editor and Senior Assistant Editor for The Pingry Record, worked on Pingry’s farm, been a member of an Independent Research Team, and played volleyball, among other activities. She has won Pingry’s Justin Society Prize for Poetry and received honors in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Outside of school, Keira has volunteered as a tutor for STEM in Place, teaching free, online classes in physics and chemistry to middle school students, and robotics to elementary school children.

An inductee into The Cum Laude Society, Keira plans to attend Cornell University.
