Evan Xie '24 Wins National Merit Scholarship

Evan Xie ’24 is a winner of the National Merit $2500 Scholarship, underwritten by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) with its own funds.

National Merit selections take into account SAT scores and leadership of and participation in school and community activities. Evan has been a member of Pingry’s Math Team, including serving as co-captain, and Independent Research Team; Head Copy Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the Pingry Community Research science journal; and an editor and a writer for The Pingry Record.

He has also played varsity ice hockey at Pingry, including serving as captain his senior year; been an assistant coach for the New York Ranger and New Jersey Devils Learn to Play Programs; and participated in the Garcia Summer Research Program at Stony Brook University, among other activities.

An inductee into The Cum Laude Society and a recipient of Pingry’s Whitlock Prize for Math, Evan plans to attend Princeton University.
