Eager to rack up 1,000 wins, Miller Bugliari ’52 agrees to his own suggestion of serving as Head Coach in all sports. This stunning change has been met with widespread support from staff, as a crying David Fahey ’99 remarks, “This is literally the greatest day of my life. After that, my kids’ births.”
Director of Athletics and Student Success Carter Abbott, who was the much-beloved Head Coach for Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse until about five minutes ago, was tight lipped on her excitement. “This is a plan I was made aware of via a… pleasant parent call,” she says verbally, while her eyes communicate something else. Excitement? Enthusiasm? No doubt it’s joy for all her newfound free time.
Coach Bugliari is brushing up on the rules of other sports. “Coaching fencing is basically the same thing as coaching soccer,” he says simply. “Just a little bit more stabbing and a lot less running.” Although “stabbing” is not the technical term used in fencing, we are confident it will soon be adopted as the correct terminology.
As he approaches 1,000 wins, Coach Bugliari shows no signs of slowing down. With his trusted golf cart now on the sidelines of every single sport, surrounded by stunned but supportive former head coaches, he is showing the community how to achieve excellence.
