All good things must come to an end, sure, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the ride. For Milligan Clark-Schoeb '24 and Campbell Clark-Schoeb '26, they are enjoying these last moments of high school, and being Varsity Lacrosse teammates, together. Milligan is gearing up to study Biology at the University of Wisconsin, but in the meantime, she's enjoying these last big wins with her sister.
Milligan, you play defense, and Campbell, you play attack. Where do you each get your competitive spirit from?
Milligan: I definitely get my competitive spirit from my parents. Growing up, I can’t remember a single game or activity that wasn’t turned into a competition.
Campbell: I would say I get my competitive spirit from my little brother. We have an ongoing competition about daily chores, academics and, most often, lacrosse. It’s soon gonna come to end soon because he will be taller and stronger than me.
You have been playing together for the past two years at Pingry. How do you both encourage each other? Do you think your playing styles are influenced by each other?
Milligan: We encourage each other in a lot of ways, always cheering each other on and pushing each other when I know she can do more. I am her biggest supporter and sometimes I tell her to get out of her head when she’s worried she’s not playing to her best ability. Although we play on opposite sides of the field, when we do go against each other in practice, we are always working our hardest to not lose to the other and to make each other better in the process.
Campbell: Playing with Milligan is very encouraging because of how positive and supportive she is on and off the field. We both try to be each other’s biggest supporters no matter the day. We learn and improve by working together in the backyard and giving each other constructive criticism. I believe it has made us better players and has made us play very similarly.
What are your favorite memories playing together?
Milligan: My favorite memories playing together has definitely been winning the past two county championships. It was such a great experience and I loved nothing more than being able to experience it together.
Campbell: My favorite memories together would most definitely be winning the last two championships knowing it will be one of the last big wins we will have together.
Now that it’s almost time for graduation, how do you anticipate things will be different going forward? And are you both feeling excited for the unknown?
Milligan: Although we are both very sad that we are going to be separated in the fall I’m excited to watch her continue to grow as a person and player. And she will be visiting me as often as she can.
Campbell: Knowing she will be graduating soon is very bitter sweet because of all that will be different. She has always been my biggest supporter on the field so not having her there is gonna be very sad and a difficult adjustment. The unknown is full of mysteries, but I am more than excited to see what is to come for the both of us.
