This all-school event is an exciting, multi-cultural celebration held in late May on the Basking Ridge campus. The afternoon includes food and entertainment from around the world. Volunteers will help organize food and entertainment, set up and serve food at the event, assist with clean up, etc. This event is a joint effort with the PSPA and Pingry's Diversity Group.
Work with the PSPA Arts Liaisons to support both the dramatic and visual arts programs on the Short Hills Campus. Activities include displaying students’ artwork, coordinating stage décor for winter and spring concerts, along with seasonal decorating of school windows and main halls. Artistic background not required, only a joy for students’ creativity!
Short Hills Campus only.
A fun night of BINGO! 50 Families, 2 1/2 Hour event. 3-4 volunteers are needed to help the chair run this event. Assist with set-up/registration/family check-in, chaperone the pizza dinner prior to the event, assist with buying/distributing prizes and basic "crowd control," which already includes parent participants. For Grades K-5.
Serve as the liaison between the PSPA, parents, and school for the class or form. Make calls and send emails to communicate PSPA and other school information. Encourage parents to attend PSPA meetings, the Spring Soiree, social functions, and special events. Help new parents feel welcome and involved at Pingry. Short Hills only—Help with party planning, field trips, and class coffees.
Basking Ridge Campus only.
Plan and assist at graduation events. Parents take informal photographs on graduation day, help graduates with gowns, assist with the post graduation celebration, and serve as greeters at other graduation-related events. Volunteers are typically Form V parents, but any parent is more than welcome to help out.
Short Hills Campus only.
Assist librarians with checking student books in and out, shelving, and small projects. Volunteers must be willing to work an every-other-week schedule for the full nine months of the school year. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m (available shifts vary year to year).
The Lunchroom Coordinator is responsible for creating an online volunteer schedule and sign-up so parents may attend lunch with their child’s class. The sign-up is created in the fall and spring. Grade 1, 2 and 3 parents are each given an opportunity to participate and attend lunch. Parents may sign up for select days on a rotating basis. (Parents will receive more information on lunchroom days/times from each class parent in the fall.)
Volunteers are needed to host a parent social for each grade and form. The idea is to have a low key, potluck evening inclusive of all parents from your child’s grade or form. A simple catering option is available, provided by the PSPA, for hosts who are interested in supplementing potluck contributions.
The Pingry Fund is our School's annual giving program that helps to bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of a Pingry education. The high level of participation we see each year signals to the external community that we are willing to invest beyond the cost of tuition. Volunteers reach out to fellow parents seeking their participation in The Pingry Fund. The Development Office will provide further information to those who sign up.
Serve on a committee as part of the annual PSPA fundraising event for the entire school. Many people are needed for the fundraiser to assist with silent and live auctions, raffles, acquisitions, and the fashion show. Volunteers are needed in both planning throughout the year and on the day of the event. Click here to sign up to volunteer!
Throughout the school year, each Lower School grade level coordinates a breakfast or lunch for Lower School teachers and faculty. It is a special way to say thank you for the incredible work they do! The Teacher Appreciation coordinator works with class parents to help organize these memorable occasions for our teachers.
