Magnus Health at Pingry

The Magnus Health portal is now open for the 2019-20 school year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Magnus?

  1. It’s a digital, student health management system.
  2. It collects and tracks forms so that we can keep your children safe and healthy.
  3. Access it via the Magnus button to the right or on the Parent Portal.

Why does Pingry use Magnus?

  1. It is a secure way to collect and manage your student's medical records.
  2. We collect over 12,000 documents for over 1,100 students each year. These documents must be manually reviewed and maintained by our nurses and athletic training staff.
  3. Magnus' software meets all State compliance requirements.

So, what action do I need to take, and when?

  1. Schedule your child(ren)'s annual physical ASAP.
  2. All physicals for the 2019-20 school year must occur between March 1, 2019 and August 5, 2019.

How does Pingry use my childs medical information?

  1. All requirements are reviewed by Pingry staff for accuracy.
  2. Pertinent information is shared ONLY with those who need it, when they need it.

What are (Magnus) health emergency contacts?

A Magnus Health emergency contact will only be contacted by a school nurse or athletic trainer in relation to a medical issue—different from emergency contacts in Veracross, who are contacted through the SchoolMessenger alert system in situations of school-wide emergencies and weather-related closings. Veracross emergency contacts are the ones often contacted at odd hours, e.g. 5:30 a.m.!

What happens if I miss the deadline?

Please make every effort to submit all required forms before the August 5, 2019 deadline. Your child will not be able to do any of the following until all Magnus requirements are complete:

  1. Participate in pre-season athletics, rehearsals, or any other school-run activity

  2. Participate in any field trips

  3. Attend school

If your child(ren) wishes to take part in any school-related activity this summer, all Magnus requirements must be complete prior to their participation, which, for Upper School students participating in athletics, may be as early as June.

My child is on a sports team, Do i need to do anything special?

It is important to note that students who participate in fall sports need to make sure to get all requirements completed as soon as possible. Students can not begin preseason practices without all necessary forms completed.

If your child(ren) wishes to take part in any school-related activity this summer, all Magnus requirements must be complete prior to their participation, which, for Upper School students participating in athletics, may be as early as June.

Please do not wait until the last minute!

How do I submit my childs medical records?

Please submit required forms to the Magnus portal by scanning and uploading them. Remember that all pages must be uploaded to constitute a complete submission.

You may also mail or fax your forms directly to Magnus Health; these methods of submission require that each individual requirement be accompanied by a unique, bar-coded cover letter, obtained in the Magnus portal. Because we can’t assist you in mailing or faxing, and because processing times are much longer for these methods, we strongly encourage you to scan and upload your documents.

Please do not mail any documents to the School, as our nurses cannot process them. For the sake of confidentiality, any forms sent to the School will be destroyed.

What is CamScanner?

With CamScanner, any paper documents can be digitized and saved right away with your mobile phone. It's just like taking a photo but it will save the image as a PDF. No need to pay for the full version—the free version does everything you need!

Still have a question? Pingry will provide tech support throughout the summer, including a “Magnus Help Desk” that will coincide with the three on-campus physicals offered to rising Grades 6-12 students at the Basking Ridge Campus. You can email magnus@pingry.org or call the Tech Office at ext. 1280 if you need technical support.

Throughout the submission period, a scanner will be made available in the Tech Office at the Basking Ridge Campus to allow you to easily upload the necessary documents to Magnus. If you prefer to upload your forms to Magnus Health from home and don’t own a scanner, the Tech Office recommends using the free Smartphone or tablet app, CamScanner.
