Humanities Independent Research Team

Welcome to Student Driven Research!

Student involvement in independent humanities research promotes deep, long-lasting learning through collaboration on a research team. Taking a deep dive into a thematic topic in literature, history, psychology, or an interdisciplinary area of focus, student researchers develop habits of creative and critical thinking that will support future advanced study in college and beyond. Students learn to think like scholars as they interpret primary and secondary sources. They practice the art of good citizenship as they problem-solve, collaborate, and respond to diverse perspectives. Teams present their research to the school community during Research Week in April. Students may also publish individual and collaborative writing in The Parker Road Review, Pingry’s academic humanities journal, and submit to external publications and competitions.
