The Pingry School is pleased to welcome Mrs. Susan "Sue" Kinney P '15, '18 back to our community as Co-Director of College Counseling, effective July 1, 2022. She will be joining fellow Co-Directors Amy Cooperman '90 and Meghan Finegan.

Mrs. Kinney, who previously served as a Pingry college counselor for 12 years—most recently as Associate Director of College Counseling—returns to the community from Phillips Academy Andover, where she has worked as an Associate Director of College Counseling for three years.

In addition to her role in the College Counseling Office at Andover, Mrs. Kinney also served as an advisor, house counselor, and teacher. Similarly, during her 12 years at Pingry, Mrs. Kinney went above and beyond to involve herself in the community—she was an advisor, a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, a club advisor to the Pingry Girls' Affinity Group, and an Assistant Coach of the Ski Racing Team. Mrs. Kinney's daughters, Annelise and Alexis, graduated from Pingry in 2015 and 2018, respectively. Before Pingry and Andover, Mrs. Kinney held positions for seven years each as a history teacher at a public school in Maryland and as an admissions counselor at Lafayette College.

A common thread through Mrs. Kinney's career is her focus on relationship-building and connection; she supports students and their families through the college process with kindness, understanding, and compassion. As Assistant Head of School for Guidance and Student Life Tim Lear '92 summarizes, "Sue is deeply invested not only in student successes but, just as importantly, in their happiness. I am confident that Sue will be an outstanding addition to the Pingry family and a strong advocate and role model for our students through the college process, and beyond."

Mrs. Kinney, who earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Business from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Montclair State University, will soon relocate from Massachusetts back to her home state of New Jersey. She looks forward to reconnecting with former colleagues, meeting new ones, and offering a fresh perspective to the Pingry College Counseling Office, a department she already knows so well.

Welcome back, Mrs. Kinney!
