Ketaki Tavan ’19 is a winner of the National Merit Liberty Mutual Scholarship, sponsored by Liberty Mutual Scholarship Foundation.

Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarships are the first of three categories of winners in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Future winners will be announced in May and June.

National Merit selections take into account SAT scores and leadership and participation in school and community activities. Ketaki has distinguished herself by balancing a rigorous course load with extracurricular involvement that has included: four-year member of the Honor Board, a student committee that promotes ethical behavior and adjudicates cases related to the School’s Honor Code; Co-Editor-in-Chief of Pingry’s student newspaper The Pingry Record; leading Pingry’s South Asian Affinity Group; tutoring fellow students through the School’s writing center; acting as a peer leader; and spending countless hours in service and community engagement through The Denan Project, a non-profit organization that provides health and development assistance to underserved people living in Peru, Mongolia, and Ethiopia.

Also a candidate in the 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, Ketaki plans to attend The University of Chicago.
