With a new Head Coach and a number of younger players joining the roster, Big Blue is looking to improve on their second-place finish at the Group State Championships last spring.

Last spring was replete with broken school records in both track and field events—not to mention the girls' team narrowly missing a podium finish at the NJSIAA Non-Public A Championships—will their success continue this season?

Jeremy Lister '18 Wins National Merit Scholarship

Pingry senior Jeremy Lister is a winner of a National Merit Northwestern University Scholarship, sponsored by the university, which he plans to attend in the fall to study Economics, while also obtaining a certificate at Northwestern's Institute for Sustainability and Energy.

College-sponsored Merit Scholarships are the third of three categories of winners in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.

National Merit selections take into account SAT scores and leadership and participation in school and community activities. Jeremy is a talented writer—in fact, he became a tutor in Pingry's student-led Writing Center as a freshman—and discovered his passion for stories and poems, which he has contributed to Pingry publications. Jeremy's creativity extends to sculpture and pottery glazes, which he has developed in Pingry sculpture classes and contributed to the School's community service organization Potters for Peace. Jeremy also received Pingry letters and pins in both track and baseball.

Outside Pingry, Jeremy has been a junior firefighter with the Watchung Fire Department for nearly two years, involved with more than a dozen calls as a first responder, and coached Watchung's fourth- and fifth-grade boys' recreational basketball teams.
