A Top-10 Finish in the Nation by Girls 4x800-Meter Relay Team!

At the prestigious New Balance Indoor Nationals over the weekend—where the best track and field athletes from across the U.S. come to compete at the close of the winter season—Pingry's 4x800-meter relay team of Nicole Vanasse '20, Avery Schiffman '18, Cathleen Parker '19, and Ryan Davi '21 finished an impressive ninth, running 9:15.05 and breaking the school record they set a week earlier at Eastern States Championship. Big Blue was among three New Jersey teams in the top 10, finishing behind Ridge, who defended their national title with a first-place finish in 9:08.07, and Union Catholic, who finished seventh in 9:14.11.

Other individual qualifiers and competitors included Caroline Dannenbaum '20, who placed 17th in the championship pole vault; Carol Ann Perry, who placed 28th in the "emerging elite" division of the pole vault event; Nicole, who also competed in the 3200-meter championship race, placing 16th in 10:52; and Ryan, who placed 22nd in the 800-meter championship race in 2:19.
