In a presentation that she described as "a letter to my 17 year-old self," Dr. Weiss reflected on the career and life choices that brought her to the stage that day.
On the heels of coaching the Girls' Varsity Lacrosse Team to their second consecutive state sectional title last spring—not to mention a #14 state ranking—Director of Athletics Carter Abbott was recently selected as the 2018-19 New Jersey Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year.
Given by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), the award's honorees are selected based upon their coaching performance, lifetime community involvement in the sport, school involvement, and philosophy of coaching. According to the NFHS's letter announcing the honor, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) specifically nominated Mrs. Abbott—who will start her 10th year as Head Coach of the Girls' Varsity Lacrosse Team this spring—as the most state's most deserving recipient.
"Carter, besides her outstanding record, is a professional, an excellent example of what a leader should be, and an outstanding role model for the girls in her program," said Bill Bruno, Assistant Director of the NJSIAA.
Congratulations, Coach Abbott!
