Last season's highlights:
Last season, led by captains Clare Hall '19 and Sophia Smith '19, the Girls' Varsity Ice Hockey Team finished with a record of 6-10. Goalie Emma Barrison '20 made an impressive 313 saves, while Allie Moss '20 led the team with 16 goals on the season.
What to watch for this season:
• This year, captains Lizzie Gilfillan '20, Annie Oatman '20, and Allie Moss '20 hope to continue a positive team spirit.
• With 19 players this year, up from last year's 14, the team will have a greater opportunity to experiment with the lineup. With more players, especially on defense, Coach Kate believes it will make a "huge difference in terms of our ability to put lines together."
• Coach "Kate," as her players call her, who also serves as the general manager for the Metropolitan Riveters, an NWHL team, will have professional players join the girls on the ice at practices. She hopes to provide the team an opportunity to "raise the level of practice."
• The team, starting their second season in the MSU (Morris/Somerset/Union) Girls Ice Hockey League, kicks off their season against Kent Place on December 2.
"I have been fortunate to be able to grow in my role as coach with this year's seniors, who were freshmen during my first year leading the team. I have been honored to watch them grow and develop as players and people during their years in the Upper School. Each member of the 2019-20 team cares deeply about the sport, their teammates, and the Pingry community. I look forward to seeing their hard work and dedication pay off this season!"—Head Coach Kate Whitman Annis P '23, '23, '28, '30
