As Big Blue readies itself for the fall season, it hopes to improve upon its record last season, during which the team took third in the Metropolitan Independent Football League.
In what ended up being a close loss to Mount Saint Mary Academy on April 18, senior co-captain Angelina Mayers '19 had a few shining moments, including recording her 100th career hit. While battling the Mounties, she also went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run scored in Big Blue's 10-9 defeat.
Along with her two fellow captains, Mary Kovacs '19 and Jillian Bahr '19, Angelina has been a key contributor to the Girls' Varsity Softball Team (5-4) over the last three years, says Head Coach Chip Carver '77. With the Somerset County and Prep Tournaments on the horizon, the team will be looking to her powerful batting skills.
"I am really passionate about softball and being with my teammates, who make this sport so much fun! I'm sad that next year I won't have this amazing team behind me. Nothing can replace the experiences that I've had on this team. "
