Last season's highlights:
The 2017 season was one marked by a number of milestones for the Boys' Varsity Lacrosse Team. On May 16, the program—the oldest high school lacrosse program in the state— celebrated its 500th win with a 9-4 victory over Christian Brothers Academy, followed just days later by a win over Oratory Prep, which sealed Head Coach Mike Webster's 300th win. On May 31, Big Blue notched its third consecutive NJSIAA Non-Public "B" state title when it defeated Bishop Eustace, 11-1. Finally, to finish the season, the team avenged an earlier loss by defeating Montgomery High School, the Group 4 state champion, in the first round of the Tournament of Champions. The senior class—including All-American co-captain Jake Moss (now playing at Notre Dame), co-captain Ollie Martin (now playing at Kenyon), Frankie Dillon (playing at Swarthmore), David Metzger and Spencer Duryee (both playing at Vassar), and Jake Simon (playing at Connecticut College) set a school record for the most wins in a four-year period, with 62 victories.
What to watch for this season:
• Led by captains Jamie Zusi '18 (also an All-American), Jason Weiss '18, and George Enman '18 (committed to play at Lafayette next fall), the team will look to capture its fourth straight state group title.
• With eight seniors leading and 18 freshmen signed up, the team is deep in both new and veteran talent.
• A bellwether will be their first game on March 28, against Saint Augustine, a top south Jersey school.
"We are excited to defend our Non-Public "B" state championship title. We have eight wonderful seniors leading us. It will be a fun year."—Head Coach Mike Webster
