Volunteer Opportunities

Assist with Admissions events and work with prospective/newly admitted parents at the direction of the Admissions office. The Admissions office will provide further information to those who indicate interest.

Join a dynamic and fun team to help run the party of the year. The All School Party aims to celebrate the spirit, talent and accomplishments of Pingry students across Lower, Middle, and Upper School within areas of arts, music, athletics, and others. Volunteers are needed on the day of the event. (Date: Spring 2024)

Assist with coordinating community and civic engagement projects, such as the Annual Thanksgiving Drive and the PSPA's largest event of the school year, Martin Luther King Day of Service.

Help with decorating, set-up, and clean-up for this all-school event on the Basking Ridge Campus. This fun family social coincides with the only night Varsity home football game, held under the lights on a fall Friday.

Take the lead in planning and hosting a parent grade social! Enjoy an afternoon or evening bonding with other parents in your child’s grade in a more intimate setting—your home or venue of your choice. You can host by yourself or with a group of families. Further details will be shared if you are interested.

Take the lead in planning and hosting a themed “pop up” parent event such as yoga, wine tasting, book club, cooking class, or other as you are inspired! “Pop up” hosts invite parents across all Pingry grades. You can host by yourself or with a friend if you would like. Further details will be shared if you are interested.

Take the lead in coordinating a simple “Happy Hour” type get-together in your local area. Further details will be shared if you are interested.

The Pingry Fund is our School's annual giving program that helps to bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of a Pingry education. The high level of participation we see each year signals to the external community that we are willing to invest beyond the cost of tuition. Volunteers reach out to fellow parents seeking their participation in The Pingry Fund. The Office of Institutional Advancement will provide further information to those who sign up.

The Appreciation Committee (Lower, Middle, and Upper School) helps organize memorable celebrations and thoughtful tokens of appreciation for our Pingry employees. It is a special way to say thank you for the incredible work they do!

Would love to volunteer but have limited time or are not sure what to volunteer for? These short-term opportunities are typically one to two-hour commitments related to one-time events/special circumstances.

Enhance school spirit by rallying pride and participation of students, parents, and Pingry employees of various Pingry academic, arts and athletic events.

The PSPA encourages all upper school parents to plan ahead and give their time to assist with the various graduation events. Parent volunteers assist with graduation photo sessions, help graduates with gowns, assist with the post-graduation celebration, and serve as greeters at other graduation-related events. Volunteers are typically Form V parents, but any Upper School parent is welcome to help!

Assist the school store staff in The Bear Pause. Shifts for the current school year are full, but please submit your interest for potential sub spots, as well as shifts for next year.

The Lower School Arts & Beautification Committee helps to support the Art Department throughout the school year. The Committee's goal is to support the school with activities such as seasonal decorating, helping to display student artwork throughout the hallways, window painting and much more. No artistic ability is required.

Assist with set-up/registration/family check-in, chaperone the pizza picnic prior to the event, assist with buying/distributing prizes, and basic "crowd control," which already includes parent participants. (Date: Winter 2024)

Assist with setting up and breaking down the fair, cashiering, and helping the younger students select books. Volunteers will also be needed for the library Wish Books project and Book Store table. (Date: October 19-20, 2023)

Serve as the liaison between the PSPA Grade Representatives, parents, and school for your child’s class/grade. Help with class/grade party planning, field trips, and teacher appreciation. Class Parent for Grades K–1, Grades 2–3, or Grades 4–5.

Grade 5 parents.
Organize the Grade 5 festivities leading up to Moving Up Day.  This may include creating a video montage, planning the class “viewing” party, and coordinating the class gift to the school (composite photo of the graduating class). (Date: Last week of school)
 

Assist librarians with checking student books in and out, shelving, and small projects. Volunteers must be willing to work an every-other-week schedule for the full nine months of the school year. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m (available shifts vary year to year).
