We recognize that a Pingry education is a significant investment and do not want tuition to be a barrier for entry. We believe that socio-economic diversity enriches our community and is critical to our mission to innovate, launch world-changers, and foster values like compassion, curiosity, and awareness of self and others. Lower School (Grades K-5):

Physical Education uniform (Grades 3-5): $85-$120

Middle School (Grades 6-8):

Athletics Uniforms + Required Spirit Wear: $250

Lunch Program (Grades K-12):

All students in grades Kindergarten through twelve participate in the mandatory school lunch program. Lunch cost per year: $1,765

PAYMENT PLAN OPTIONS

For 2023-2024, three payment options are available to you:

Pay tuition and fees in full by August 1, 2023.
Pay in two installments: 70% paid by August 1, 2023 and the remainder by February 1, 2024.
Ten-month payment plan, paying 15% of tuition and fees for each of the first five months with the first payment due by May 1, 2023, and 5% of tuition and fees for each of the remaining five months.

Along with these plans, families have additional options for managing their accounts, including:

A wider choice of payment methods including direct debit, credit card, and paper check, either as one-time or automatically recurring payments, and the option to save your methods of pay for future remittance
The ability to access their account 24 hours a day electronically via computer or mobile device.

Need-Based TUITION ASSISTANCE

The Pingry School offers tuition assistance to families with demonstrated need - the difference between what a family can afford to pay as determined by the proprietary formula applied by Clarity Tuition, a third party tuition assistance application provider for independent schools, and the estimated total cost of attendance.

Pingry strives to meet up to 100% of the demonstrated need for each student we enroll and support. However, the School recognizes that what a family may experience as their financial need is sometimes different than that determined by the tuition assistance formula.

how to apply for tuition assistance

For all students: Please complete your Tuition Assistance application using Clarity Tuition.

To get started, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $55 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools. Tuition Assistance applications will open in August, 2023.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Tuition Assistance Award Determination

After a family completes their application on the Clarity Tuition platform, our Tuition Assistance committee uses its own policies to determine the most equitable financial aid grant. In determining an award, the Tuition Assistance Committee takes into account not only tuition charges and related fees, but normally anticipated costs such as books, transportation, meals, and travel. The committee also considers extenuating circumstances that may affect the family’s contribution.

TUITION ASSISTANCE APPEAL PROCESS

Three-Tier Additional Expenses Support

Covered at student’s financial aid (FA) percentage

Expenses covered by Pingry at the same percentage as a student’s financial aid percentage (Eg. Lunch, busing, global program trips, extracurricular trips, and textbooks).

Academic Trips & Global Programs:

If selected for the program/trip, a student’s financial aid percentage applied to the total cost of the trip.

Extracurricular Trips:

If selected for the program/trip, a student’s financial aid percentage applied to the total cost of the trip. Extracurricular trips include:

Sports team trips (international and domestic).

Music group trips.

Student club trips (Model UN, for example).

Busing:

Student’s financial aid percentage applied to the total cost of daily transportation.

Textbooks:

Student’s financial aid percentage applied to the total cost of required textbooks during the academic year.

Covered at Student's FA percentage, but capped at a maximum amount per student, per expense

Expenses covered by Pingry at the same percentage as a student’s financial aid percentage, but capped at a certain amount (mandatory athletic apparel/spirit wear and technology grant).

Athletic Apparel & Spirit Wear:

Student’s financial aid percentage will be applied to the total cost of mandatory athletic apparel/spirit wear.

Student’s financial aid percentage applied to the total cost of mandatory athletic apparel/spirit wear. Students will have a maximum amount that will be covered for each sport/season based on their financial aid percentage.

Technology Grant:

Rising Middle and Upper School students receiving tuition assistance who do not have a laptop that meets the minimum requirements for school use may apply for a one-time (per Division) technology grant.

If eligible, a student’s financial aid percentage will be applied to the total cost of the student's laptop. Students will be eligible for one laptop in Middle School and one in Upper School. Any portion of the laptop cost not covered by the technology grant will be billed to the student’s account and subject to Pingry's regular payment policies.

The laptop will be purchased through the school; however, ownership of the laptop will be transferred to the family upon summer pick-up in the Tuition Assistance Office. After pick-up, the laptop will be owned and maintained by the family and not be the property of the school.

If your child does not have a laptop that meets these requirements for the 2023-24 academic year, please complete the technology grant application by June 25th, 2023. Technology grant decisions will be communicated in late-June, by email.

Covered at student's financial aid percentage if mandated by the institution

Expenses that are mandated by the institution and covered at the same percentage as a student’s financial aid percentage (tutoring and medical evaluations).

Tutoring:

Student's financial aid percentage applied to the total cost of tutoring that is deemed mandatory by department chairs and/or division directors.

Medical Evaluations:

Student’s financial aid percentage applied to the total cost of evaluation. This applies to evaluations that the school is mandating for a specific student (academical, psychological, physical, etc.).
