The Climate Institute
Solutions for a Sustainable Future
Summer 2026
Pottersville Campus
To maintain the climate that human civilizations have always known, or anything close to it, we need to remake the societies we’ve already built. Are you one of the young people who will help make this happen?
Come spend a week at Pingry’s Pottersville Campus to learn about cutting-edge solutions to one of the biggest problems the world faces today. You’ll hear from experts of different professional backgrounds, take trips to see what climate innovation looks like in sectors such as energy and agriculture, and partner with local New Jersey organizations focused on sustainability and climate justice. Join a cohort of like-minded peers and collaborate with them over the course of the week to develop action plans for your own schools or communities. A highlight will be an onsite visit to Swarthmore College to learn about the school’s deep commitment to climate action.
Essential Questions:
- Why has climate change been so difficult to address? Why haven’t we fixed it yet?
- What are the technological, economic, and social barriers to success and how can we address them?
- How can I personally address the climate crisis in the most effective way, both right now and in the future?

After a 30-year career at CBS News, including 25 as a producer for 60 Minutes, David left CBS to start The Years Project, a documentary film company focused exclusively on the climate crisis. His first production there was an Emmy-winning series on Showtime called Years of Living Dangerously. He's now doing a series for Columbia Business School about companies working to solve climate change.
David served on the Garrison (NY) school board for many years with a friend and fellow Pingry graduate, Matt Speiser.
