Key Initiatives

K–12 Immersive and Boarding Experiences

At Pottersville, we blur the line between learning and play. Miles from our bustling and fast-paced main campuses, the distinct energy of Pingry’s Pottersville Campus offers a purposeful contrast that nudges our students to tap into focus, exploration, and discovery. This is our playground to transform all that we’ve learned into action.

Residential Employee Community

The residential community at The Pottersville Campus is a welcoming and vibrant community for Pingry employees and their families.

Strategic Partnerships

At Pingry, we partner with mission-aligned organizations to enhance our school and deepen our connections to the real world.

About the Pottersville Campus

In August 2021, The Pingry School acquired the 82-acre campus of the Purnell School located in the hills of Somerset County in Bedminster, New Jersey. Purnell was a boarding school for girls in grades 9–12, founded in 1963. When Purnell announced it was to close, Pingry saw a unique opportunity to continue the tradition of education on the campus.

Pottersville represents a place that uniquely supports Pingry's mission by cultivating curiosity, stretching students to grow intellectually and personally, and nurturing connection and togetherness. Rooted in a philosophy of experiential learning, at Pottersville we immerse in topics through differentiated offerings outside of the regular school day; our students become their own primary resources through learning that engages the head, heart, and mind. Our offerings—student programs, strategic partnerships, residential community, and professional experiences—create an inspiring environment emphasizing connection and lifelong learning.

Once a working farm, then a boarding school for girls, and now Pingry’s third campus, the  grounds at the Pottersville Campus are set amidst rolling hills with expansive views and wilderness to explore. The campus has ample outdoor and indoor learning resources including a pond, hiking trails, ropes course, garden, classrooms, an indoor athletics facility, performing arts center, visual arts studios, library, labs, 54 residential dormitories with 200 beds, common spaces, game rooms, and a housing community for Pingry faculty and staff. The grounds include a community "quad" and several athletic fields. Hacklebarney State Park borders the campus, which features scenic trails that make their way from the forest to the rocky banks of the Black River.
The Campus is a 20-minute drive from Pingry's Basking Ridge Campus and a 40-minute drive from the Short Hills Campus.

Pottersville is more than a campus—it’s a canvas. It’s where ideas take shape, connections take root, and possibilities unfold. Whether you’re exploring the wilderness, bonding with peers, or solving real-world problems, this is a place where you’ll be inspired to go further."
