The Lower School day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:10 p.m. From 7:45 to 8:00 a.m., students will have time to report to their homerooms and organize their materials for the day. Students must be in their homerooms by 8:00 a.m. for daily attendance and Morning Meeting.
Students arriving between 7:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. must enter via the front entrance and report to Beforecare. For students arriving after 8:00 a.m., a parent/guardian will be required to sign them in at the Main Office, via the front entrance. Please Note: Students may not exit their vehicles before 7:45 a.m. unless they are enrolled in Beforecare. This policy will be strictly enforced for student and traffic safety purposes.
Afternoon dismissal begins at 3:15 p.m. Students not picked up by the end of dismissal will be sent to Aftercare, and families will be billed accordingly.
Pingry must be notified of a late arrival, early dismissal, or absence. Please email lsattendance@pingry.org and copy your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher(s) if there is a change in plans for your child(ren). Emailing lsattendance@pingry.org and the homeroom teacher(s) ensures that all necessary faculty and staff are notified of your updated plans. If your child is absent due to illness or injury, please email the details of the illness or injury to our nursing staff.
When possible, appointments should be made outside the school day to maintain continuity in your child(ren)’s learning and development. Additionally, trips should be planned well in advance to avoid conflicts with the school calendar.
In the rare occurrence of a scheduling conflict, families are expected to obtain advance approval for extended absences (3 or more days) at least one week in advance of an extended absence. Approval must be received in writing from the Lower School Director.
