Arrival and Dismissal Safety and Etiquette- Short Hills
The Short Hills Campus community is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff. We take great pride in upholding the Honor Code through our actions, and we rely on all members of our community to respect and adhere to the School’s procedures for drop-off and pick-up, and follow the guidance from faculty and staff outside at those times:
- Display your family’s placard prominently on the vehicle’s dashboard. Placards for vehicles will be provided to families. Families that misplace their placards may print temporary copies here.
- The front and back circles support one-way traffic only. Pull all the way up to the car in front of you before dropping off or picking up. Children may only exit or enter via the passenger side of the vehicle.
- Drivers should remain in their vehicle at all times. Pingry faculty and staff will help students entering/exiting as needed. Drivers cannot park and walk up to the building to pick up students during dismissal.
- Do not speed into or out of the front or back circles or on surrounding streets. The speed limit is 10 mph on school grounds.
- Do not pass the car in front of you or attempt to back up in the driveway. It is a safety hazard for students, faculty, and staff.
- Do not park your car in the parking lot and walk into the school to pick up your children to avoid the afternoon car line.
- Be considerate of our neighbors when entering or exiting the campus. Do not block any driveways and drive at a safe speed.
- Please keep the Short Hills Campus a “no-idling zone” by turning off your vehicle’s motor when waiting in the car line.
