Basking Ridge Campus Health Information

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you prepare to join our Basking Ridge community this fall, we want to share important health and safety information to support your child’s well-being, particularly for students with asthma or other potentially life-threatening allergies.

At Pingry, we are committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students. Below, you’ll find an overview of the key protocols and requirements in place to help us ensure your child’s health and safety throughout the school year:

  • The Basking Ridge Campus is not a nut-free campus. Students and families are encouraged to visit Sage Dining's website for complete daily menus and a list of allergens in their food offerings. This will help to ensure students have the most up-to-date information when selecting meals. Students should also be aware that nut products can be found in The Bear Pause (the school store), in vending machines, and at various bake sales held on campus.

  • Under New Jersey law (Title 18A:40-12.3), students may self-administer medication for asthma or other potentially life-threatening conditions, such as severe allergies, provided all required documentation is on file. This includes submitting an updated Asthma Action Plan and/or Allergy Action Plan each school year, completed and signed by both a parent or guardian and the student’s physician.

  • Students who have asthma or a potentially life-threatening allergy should carry and self-administer their emergency medications, such as an albuterol inhaler and epinephrine auto-injectors, at all times during school or when attending a school-sponsored event if the proper forms are completed and signed by the student’s physician and parent or guardian. Please note that students participating in field trips or other off-campus programs must carry both prescribed epinephrine auto-injectors for the duration of the program. The Asthma Action Plan and the Allergy Action Plan forms are located in the Magnus Portal, accessible by logging in to the Pingry Parent Portal

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us in the Health Office.
