Girls’ Varsity Golf
A PGA-certified golf instructor since 1991, Mr. Mauer owns Paradise Golf Center in Flemington and served as a private teacher for nearly 20 years before assuming the role of Head Coach of Pingry’s Girls’ Varsity Golf Team in 2015. He played at the College of Charleston in South Carolina as well as at Archbishop John Carroll in Radnor, Pennsylvania, where he was twice named MVP and held the nine-hole low scoring average record for 15 years. As a PGA professional, he qualified for the Professional National Championship in 2001, and continues to play in tournaments throughout the year.
In his free time, he enjoys a bit of friendly family competition while playing golf with his two children. Watching them compete in a variety of sports, and observing their coaches and mentors, has been a great asset to his own coaching approach, he says.
“I coach to have a positive impact on my student athletes. Golf can be an emotional game, and I like to be able to help kids deal with the stressful situations that occur on the golf course, which can also help them deal with situations off the course. I also thoroughly enjoy watching students improve their game and have fun achieving success.”
