The Connecticut Whale, a team within the National Women's Hockey League, recently resigned veteran defender Hanna Beattie '13 to their 2021-22 roster. It will be her fifth season playing professional hockey with the team. “Hanna is a dependable defender that we can count on in any situation. Her ability to read plays and join the rush for an extra layer of attack is a huge asset to the way we play as a team,” said Whale assistant coach Laura Brennan. “We look forward to having her return as a veteran leader to the Pod this season!” Read on for more details.
Kenyon College's starting lacrosse goalie, David Metzger '17, received an All-American honorable mention from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). According to Kenyon, during the 2021 season, he played a little more than 400 minutes between the pipes and posted a 7.28 goals against average this past season. He made 91 saves to go along with a .650 save percentage. At a national level, David's goals against average was the ninth best output among all NCAA Division III goalies who logged 400 minutes or more. His save percentage ranked third. Read more.
At the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held in Raleigh, North Carolina from May 13–15, former Big Blue thrower Austin Parsons '18, a sophomore at Notre Dame, broke the school's javelin record. His mark of 230'5", a personal best by nearly nine feet, improved upon the Irish's previous record of 222'67", which had stood for 30 years. The throw also earned him a second-place finish—just four feet shy of gold—at one of the most competitive meets in the country. Read on for more details!
