What is Pingry?

Pingry is a K-12, co-ed, independent day school in Short Hills, Basking Ridge and Pottersville, New Jersey, of over 1,100 students, all guided by its historic Honor Code. 

How can I apply to The Pingry School?

Families must complete the Application process. We are requiring applications to be submitted online in keeping with Pingry's commitment to sustainability and the ease and reliability of this format. However, if you do not have access to a computer, please contact the appropriate Admission office. For families applying to our Short Hills Campus, email k-5admissions@pingry.org. For families applying to our Basking Ridge Campus, email 6-12admissions@pingry.org.

How can I receive information about The Pingry School?

Do you have an age cut off for students applying to Kindergarten?

Yes, applicants must be 5 years old by September 1 in the year they will begin Kindergarten.

How do I get to campus?

How many applications does Pingry receive?

 

Typically, we receive six applications per opening.

 

 

What is Pingry's tuition? Are there hidden costs?

 

For the complete description of tuition and additional fees by grade, visit the Affording Pingry page. We seek to minimize additional fees; however they typically range from $250-$2,000 depending on grade and student involvement.

 

 

Does Pingry offer tuition assistance?

Yes! Pingry awards over $6.0M in tuition assistance annually to students in grades K-12.

What colleges do Pingry students attend?

We are proud of our impressive list of college matriculation, but even more so, of the number and diversity of schools represented. Our College Counseling Office assists each family in finding a good fit for their student at the next level. Does Pingry provide transportation?

What is an average class size?

Lower School - 18 Students
Middle School - 15 Students
Upper School - 14 Students

 

What grades do you accept applications for, and how many openings are there?

We accept applications for grades K-11 and openings are as follows:

K - 36 spaces
2 - 18 spaces
4 - 18 spaces
6 - 32 spaces
9 - 50-55 spaces

For other grades - 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11 - applications are accepted and spaces become available through attrition.

 

Are specific candidates given priority within the admission process?

No. Regardless of their background, Pingry prepares students for success in school and their lives beyond school, fosters their passion for learning and achievement, and helps them learn how to shape a joyful life. Our community seeks prospective students who will embrace all that it means to be a Pingry student—the rigor, the fun, the commitment, and the reward. 

If my child is placed in a waiting pool, and no openings become available, do we have to reapply?

Yes, if your child has been placed in our wait pool for a particular academic year, he or she must reapply in any subsequent year, as critical information such as teacher recommendations and test scores must be updated.
