Applying to Pingry

To start your application process to the Pingry School and to be added to our mailing list, please complete the Inquiry Form. The information you provide in this form will allow us to get to know you and your interests. Upon completion, you will receive more information about Pingry and you will be invited to start completing the application process, interview opportunities and admission events.

Once you submitted your inquiry form, you will be assigned to an Enrollment Counselor who will be your point-person throughout the entire admissions process and will provide you with more details about in-person experiences with our community.

* Please note child must be 5 years old by September 1 the year they start kindergarten.

Throughout the fall, the Office of Enrollment Management will be hosting a number of campus tours, class visits, webinar information sessions, and open houses for prospective students and families applying for the 2023-2024 school year. These sessions provide families the opportunity to meet with, hear from, and ask questions to community members on a panel. Please visit our Visit Pingry page to learn more about how to register for each event. 

Attendance at a campus tour or virtual information event will satisfy the Student Visit requirement. Please click here to see what events are currently available. Check back often as additional events will be added during the course of the admission season.

Beginning in the fall, applicants will receive notice via email that their Pingry Admissions Portal is available. Use your Pingry Admissions Portal to monitor your application checklist and upload any supplementary documents. You can also use the portal to access additional applicant resources, including admission event registration forms. Ultimately, you will receive your admission decision on this portal. 

Note: If you have previously applied and/or are already a current Pingry family, enter your (parent) e-mail address. If that address exists in our system, you will immediately receive an email which will include a link labeled: Login to Admission Portal. Click that link to get started on the application!

Once in our Admissions Portal, please click the green button titled: Manage Candidate Application. Here you will be able to:

• View your Admissions Checklist.
• Complete the Family Information and Candidate Information of the application.
• Lastly, submit the Application Fee.

These three sections must be completed and submitted by the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the candidate no later than Saturday, December 10, 2022 for Regular Decision Process and no later than Tuesday, November 1, 2022 for Early Action Process (Note: Early Action is only available for 9th grade applicants).

Once you have completed the above steps, you have officially become a Pingry applicant. HOORAY! It is at this point that you will then have access to the next steps in the application process.

A non-refundable application fee of $75.00 is required. As soon as the application fee is received, you will have access to schedule an interview with a Pingry enrollment counselor in the Visit & Interview section of this platform.

Our interview season will begin in September (Scheduled through our Admissions Platform's Online Interview Scheduler):

• For the 2023–24 Admissions Season, interviews will be available both virtually and in person. Virtual interview will take place using the zoom platform. 
• All interviews will be weighed equally in the Pingry application, regardless of the interviewer.
• The interview appointment is scheduled for 45 minutes. The interviewer will speak individually (one-on-one) with the prospective student for the first 30 minutes of the appointment.
• Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are welcome to join the conversation, without the student, for the remaining time. Questions are welcome!
• Kindergarten to Grade 5 applicants: A 30 minute parent(s)/guardian(s) interview appointment. A 10 minute student meeting which takes place via Zoom.

1. Parent & Student Questionnaires:

Due January 1, 2023 for Regular Decision Process and November 20, 2022 for Early Action Process (Note: Early Action is only available for 9th grade applicants).

Grades and test scores are important when applying for Pingry, but it takes a lot more than "the numbers" to tell your story. The student questionnaire is a chance to give us a snapshot of who you are—your voice, your experiences, your goals.

2. Recommendations:

Due January 1, 2023 for Regular Decision Process and November 20, 2022 for Early Action Process (Note: Early Action is only available for 9th grade applicants).

• Submit one Teacher Recommendation form to the applicant's current humanities teacher (English, language arts, or history).
• Submit one Teacher Recommendation form to the applicant's current math teacher.
• Submit the Extracurricular Recommendation form to an adult who has worked with the applicant in an activity or special interest they enjoy outside of the classroom.

3. Transcript/Report Card Request Form:

Please submit the required transcripts no later than January 1, 2023 for Regular Decision Process and no later than November 20, 2022 for Early Action Process (Note: Early Action is only available for 9th grade applicants).

4. Testing:

Due January 1, 2023 for Regular Decision Process and November 20, 2022 for Early Action Process (Note: Early Action is only available for 9th grade applicants).

Candidates must submit scores from one of the below standardized tests as a supplement to their application. Tests must be administered between September 2022 and January 2023​​​​​.

The Pingry School will be a testing site for applicants this year. We are offering both tests at our Pottersville campus this fall. The SSAT will take place on October 16th and the ISEE will take place on December 3rd (Grade 6 to 11 applicants). Both tests will take place from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Kindergarten Applicants: One on one testing with an evaluator

Grade 2 to 5 Applicants:

December 15, 2022: Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Applicants to 9 grade (Early Decision) will be informed electronically of the Admission Committee decision.

February 23, 2023: Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Applicants to Kindergarten, Grades 2, 4, 6, and 9 (Regular Decision) will be informed electronically of the Admission Committee decision.

March 30, 2023: Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of Applicants to Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11 will be informed electronically of the Admission Committee decision.

January 4th, 2022: Early Action Admitted Student Day (9th grade applicants only)

February 25th, 2023: Lower School Admitted Students Day

For our newly admitted students in kindergarten, second, and fourth grade! Join us from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the gym at the Short Hills campus. Our morning will include fun activities and games for children to enjoy while parents mingle in the cafeteria for coffee and conversation.
