Technology

The Pingry School recognizes the critical importance of the role of technology in the classroom, and has the goal of creating a seamless integration of technology into all aspects of the School’s life. Students are challenged to use technology to increase problem-solving skills and to recognize that technology further enables them to become lifelong learners. Central to the School’s use of technology is the development of a critical awareness of the benefits of technology and the moral and ethical issues related to it.

In the Lower School, the technology program provides all students with an opportunity to explore, experience, and understand computer technology. From Kindergarten to grade 6, students use the computer as a tool—in graphics, story-writing, multimedia presentations, and critical thinking and decision-making challenges.

In the Middle and Upper Schools, students have daily access to computers in the computer labs and library, providing them access to e-mail, applications, the Internet and other research tools, magazine and newspaper files, and digital card catalogue searches.
