Vital Signs is the opinion magazine of The Pingry School. It is a forum for students to freely express their viewpoints on political, social, and news-oriented topics. Published three times annually, it is student-run and advised by Mrs. Madeline Landau, a member of the History Department.

Since its inception in 1986, Vital Signs has been recognized with numerous awards. In 1996 and 1997, it won the prestigious Gold Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for outstanding accomplishments in student journalism. In 1995 and 1998, it won the Silver Crown. This year, Vital Signs staff members won five national awards - more than any other school in the Northeast - from the Quill & Scroll/ASNE International Writing and Photo Contest.

Vital Signs originated as the newsletter of the Awareness Society, a school club that allows students to express and debate their beliefs on a variety of issues. Over the years, Vital Signs has grown and evolved, and this year it was renamed The Opinion Magazine of The Pingry School.
