PSPA Volunteer Opportunities

Welcome, parents!

My name is Angela Taylor and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for the Pingry School Parents' Association. If you have a lot of time or just a little time - if you want to volunteer for a day, chair an event, or anything in between - we can always use your help. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents. Please join us in supporting our children and The Pingry School!

A Taste of Pingy
This all-school, multi-cultural potluck is held in late May on the Basking Ridge campus. Volunteer to bring food, or help with decorating, setting up, serving or cleaning up.

Admissions Volunteer
Short Hills Campus Chairs: Lois Fitton, Laura San Miguel and Margaret Santana
Assist at new parent events/Open Houses and work with prospective/newly admitted parents at the direction of the PSPA Admissions Volunteer Coordinators and the Admissions office.

Arts Committee
Short Hills Campus Liaison: Meridith Goyanes
Basking Ridge Campus Liaison: Suzanne Park

Work with the PSPA Arts Liaisons to facilitate both the dramatic and visual arts programs on both campuses.

Short Hills Campus only. Chair: Jennifer Malone
Work with the PSPA Beautification chairperson to provide seasonal and festive decorating of main halls. Coordinate background stage decor for winter and spring concerts and 5th-grade Moving Up Day.

Big Blue Pride Committee
Basking Ridge Campus only. Chairs: Michelle LeGrand and Heather Raincsuk
Be a part of the Big Blue Pride Committee that serves to enhance school spirit and build the Pingry community by rallying student, parent, and faculty and staff pride and participation around Pingry's athletic teams, games, and school spirit events.

Book Fair
Short Hills Campus only. Chairs: Michelle Bergman and Megha Shah
Assist chairpersons with setting up and breaking down the fair, cashiering, and helping the younger students select books. Volunteers will also be needed for the library Wish Books project and the Bookstore table.

Bookstore Volunteers
Basking Ridge Campus only.
Shifts for the current school year are full, but please submit your interest for potential sub spots, as well as shifts for next year.

Class or Form Parent
Serve as the liaison between the PSPA, parents, and school for the class or form. Make calls and send emails to communicate PSPA and other school information. Encourage parents to attend PSPA meetings, the Spring Soiree, social functions, and special events. Help new parents feel welcome and involved at Pingry. Short Hills only—Help with party planning, field trips, and class coffees.

Community Service
Chairs: Ginger Chaddha, Holly Fields and Jennifer Poh
Assist with coordinating service projects such as the fall World Hunger event or the winter Martin Luther King Day of Service.

Friday Night Lights
Chairs: Paula Arrom, Debbie Ingrassia, Nitan Sood and Chris Watson
Help with decorating, set-up and clean-up for this all-school event on the Basking Ridge campus. This fun family party coincides with the only night Varsity home football game, held under the lights on a fall Friday.

Basking Ridge Campus only. Chairs: Anthe Angelides, Adrienne Cortazzo, Tracy Dugan and Corinne Kelly
Plan and assist at graduation events. Parents take informal photographs on graduation day, help graduates with gowns, assist with the post graduation celebration, and serve as greeters at other graduation-related events. Volunteers are typically Form V parents, but any parent is more than welcome to help out.

Lego Project Night
Short Hills Campus only.
60,000 Legos, 50 Families, 3 Hours. 3-4 volunteers are needed to help with registration/family check-in, chaperone the pizza supper right before the event and basic "crowd control" at this event which already includes parent participants at each Grade 2-5 family station.

Lower School Library
Short Hills Campus only. Volunteer Coordinator: Seema Ghandi
Assist librarians with checking student books in and out, shelving, and small projects. Volunteers must be willing to work an every-other-week schedule for the full nine months of the school year. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m (available shifts vary year to year).

Lost and Found
Basking Ridge Campus only. Chairs: Alex Bonner and Hazel England
Organize books, backpacks, clothing, and other lost items.

Short Hills Campus only. Grades 1-3. Volunteer Coordinator: Amy Cuiffo
Attend lunch with your child’s class. This allows the teachers an open period once a week. Volunteers are assigned shifts on a rotating basis depending on the number of volunteers who sign up and on your availability. (Parents will receive more information on shift assignments from each class parent in the fall.)

Moving Up Day
Short Hills Campus only. Grade 5 parents.
Organize 5th-grade class party. Coordinate class gift to the school, create a composite photo of the graduating class, and decorate for the Moving Up Day exercises.

Pingry Fund
The Pingry Fund is our School's annual giving program that helps to bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of a Pingry education. The high level of participation we see each year signals to the external community that we are willing to invest beyond the cost of tuition. Volunteers reach out to fellow parents seeking their participation in The Pingry Fund. The Development Office will provide further information to those who sign up.

Parent Socials
Coordinator: Eva Talarek
Volunteers are needed to host a parent social for each grade and form. The idea is to have a low key, potluck evening inclusive of all parents from your child’s grade or form. A simple catering option is available, provided by the PSPA, for hosts who are interested in supplementing potluck contributions.

Spring Soirée Benefit
Chairs: Tarena Cernuto and Anne Wargo
Serve on a committee as part of the annual PSPA fundraising event for the entire school. Many people are needed for the fundraiser to assist with silent and live auctions, raffles, acquisitions, and the fashion show. Volunteers are needed in both planning throughout the year and on the day of the event. Click here to sign up to volunteer!

Tennis Social
Chairs: Paula Brotman and Lucila Volbrechthausen
Help plan this May event and recruit parents to play. The morning of tennis on our Basking Ridge courts, followed by lunch, is open to parents of all skill levels.

Vocations Panel & Mixer Event
5-6 committee volunteers needed to curate and recruit panel speakers about new market trends in various industries from current parent body, facilitate parent check-in/name tags and help parents make new connections and conversation during the event.
