Admission Procedures for grades k-5
The following steps must be completed before an application will be reviewed by the Admission Committee.
 | | APPLICATION
Submit the Admission Application with application fee prior to applicant’s classroom visit and testing. The non-refundable application fee (which includes testing) is $100. Please make checks payable to The Pingry Corporation. An applicant photo is optional, but encouraged.Applications are due by the following date: Grades K–5 - December 16, 2010 Applications submitted after this date will be considered as space allows.
Since part of the application process is a visit by the student, we encourage you to submit your application as early as possible. We can accommodate only a certain number of students per day and our calendar fills up quickly. |

 | | TEACHER RECOMENDATION(S)
Current teacher recommendation forms should be completed no earlier than December for application to Kindergarten through Grade 5. A recommendation from the previous year’s teacher is required for application to grades two through five. Recommendation forms should be sent directly by the writer to our Admission Office.

 | | TRANSCRIPT OF RECORD
For Grades 2-5 Only – Submit the transcript request form which needs to be completed by your current school office in January and sent directly to Pingry.

 | | APPLICANT VISIT
Kindergarten – Visitation sessions will be hosted on five mornings: January 22, 23, 29, 30 and February 5, from 9:00-11:00 am. During these two-hour sessions, kindergarten teachers and admission personnel will observe children in a peer group learning and play experience. Please submit the Class Visitation Form with the application to register.
Grade 1 – Visitation will be hosted on Saturday, February 27, from 9:00-11:00 am. During these two-hour sessions, teachers will observe children in a peer group academic and social setting. Please submit the Class Visitation Form with the application to register.
Grades 2-5 – A visit should be scheduled after the application has been submitted. Applicants visit with their peer grade. Second grade applicants visit from 8:30 am to 11:50 am. Third, fourth, and fifth grade applicants visit from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Lunch is provided for applicants to grades 2-5. |

 | | TESTING
Kindergarten – Kindergarten applicants are evaluated individually. After submitting the application form and application fee, please call the Admission Office to set up an appointment. Kindergarten evaluations begin in November.
Grade 1 – Applicants are given an in-house evaluation during the class visitation on Saturday morning, February 27, 2010.
Grades 2-5 – Applicants must take the Educational Records Bureau’s (ERB) CTP 4 which is administered at Pingry’s Short Hills Campus. Please select a testing date and submit the Testing Information Form with the application: Grade 2: Saturday, February 26, 2011 Noon-2:00 pm
Grades 3, 4 and 5: Saturday, January 22, 2011 Saturday, January 29, 2011 Noon-2:00 pm (Grade 3 and 4 applicants) Noon-3:00 pm (Grade 5 applicants)
The ISEE will be accepted in lieu of the CTP 4 for applicants to Grade 5 (Pingry code 310315).
Applicants who are applying to Far Hills Country Day School, Kent Place School, Oak Knoll School and The Peck School only need to take the entrance examination once. The Admission Offices will share scores upon written request. |

The Admission Office attempts to make decisions on applications by the following dates:
