Curriculum Guide

While Pingry is dedicated to providing the highest quality education to a diverse and academically motivated student body, it also seeks to develop all aspects—moral, creative, intellectual, athletic—of the individual student. In the Lower School, Pingry seeks to stimulate intellectual curiosity and encourage critical thinking in its students. In the Middle School, the curriculum has a dual role: the presentation of information and the guiding of students’ critical thinking skills from memorization to thoughtful, independent analysis of the material being presented. Upper School students benefit from the challenges of a rigorous college preparatory education combined with numerous extracurricular activities. Pingry’s teachers are dedicated to the students as individuals as well as their own fields of instruction. Small classes are maintained in order to foster a close relationship between students and faculty, providing personal attention to each student’s needs.

In the spirit of Pingry's philosophy of teaching the whole child, the Curriculum Guide offers the complete range of academic offerings. Specifically, it includes descriptions of both required and elective courses as well as the sequence of courses students take on the way to graduation. More broadly, it is a road map with which students and parents can envision the full picture of their Pingry experience.
