Pingry's Dylan Cheng '18 was among 1,000 students accepted as delegates to the week-long American Legion Jersey Boys State Program at Rider University. It is one of the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students. A participatory program in which students become part of the operation of local, county, and state government, Boys State was founded in 1935.
Referred to as "statesmen," students participated in a hands-on approach to government at the local, county, and state level. Operated by students elected to various offices, Boys State activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, and law-enforcement presentations.
