Mozart named the organ the “King of Instruments.” Whether accompanying an orchestra or chorus, or both, or taking the solo spotlightthe majesty of the organ is incomparable for meditation and celebration. Pingry’s pipe organ continues to demonstrate that glory. For fifty years, this organ has raised our spirits, gladdened our hearts, and inspired us as a community. From providing the ceremonial cadence for numerous graduations and convocations to the emotive accompaniment for countless choral and orchestral recitals, the school’s organ is considered to be the crown jewel of Pingry’s music program and an integral piece of the school’s history.
During the restoration, Pingry’s pipe organ will be completely refurbished including the restoration of the organ reservoirs, windchests, and related components and cleaning and voicing of the pipework. A new console, built by Allen Organ Company, will employ digital technology to significantly enhance performance, allowing for unparalleled customization of the instrument.
In order to ensure that all future students who pass through the halls of Pingry will continue to enjoy this unique piece of history, we have initiated a special fundraising effort. Through support from Pingry alumni, parents, past parents and friends, we plan to raise $200,000 to restore the organ. Naming opportunities are available for gifts of $1,000 or more. We hope you will support this project.
