The art program is designed to foster development on a personal, social, and cultural level. It aims toward reinforcing each student’s innate creative abilities by offering opportunities for visual awareness and self-expression. In the primary grades, children are introduced into the program through the exploration of art fundamentals (design, shape, color, texture, etc.). The importance is placed on building self-esteem and self-confidence, rather than on one’s final product. Once in the Middle School and Upper Schools, cooperative learning skills are reinforced through the fine art, music, and drama courses. A wide range of activities are offered, including clay working and photography.
