I want to thank you for showing me how important it is to find the four-leaf clover in the grass when you are on the stage. Teaching life lessons by example, showing that there is much more to the game than the score, is a mark of a great coach. Just the skill to be able to orchestrate a group of teenage boys into a team is much more of a challenge than I realized at the time, until I did it myself.
The friendships and good times that stay with me from our championship seasons are some of the most beautiful memories of my life, almost as good as the soccer movies we used to watch over at your house. Paul Ciszak and I have recently had a chance to play golf together and share one of his over-the-top cooking extravaganzas together and it brings back all the old nick names, all the old jokes, all the old plays. Thanks from one of your players,

Gary Giorgi, Class of 1972

During one practice, Coach Bugliari must have felt like we were messing around (which never ever happened) and out of no where Coach screams, "Will you guys stop playing balloon tag and pop the counselor!" To this day, none of us still knows what that means or where he came up with that. But to be honest, lines like that were the norm with Coach B. He's both a legend and a genius.

I have plenty of other Miller moments locked away in safe hiding if need be.

Regards,

Dear Coach,
Just a few memories to reconnect how blessed we were to have you as a teacher and coach.  I keep planning to come back to Pingry some day, but schedule and responsibilities always get in the way, perhaps this year!

Thanks for your hard work.  You saved many a game and who can forget Blair.  Please keep the marks up at Vermont and try to get soccer started.

You are always welcome at the house.  I hope you can visit me.

Other memories unique to you and Pingry

  1. During games, you had your half used roll of adhesive tape that you clutched, squeezed, and flattened as you paced the sideline during the game
  2. The wind sprints when we deserved to learn that we hadn’t played to our capability, even if we won
  3. Beating Hun on their field
  4. Your passion for soccer and better, your passion for all of us to succeed
  5. The pregame meetings and psyche time and the half time corrections
  6. Playing against Roger Herman Middlebury vs. Vermont

As you know, soccer did get started in Vermont, and I have yet to visit you.  I almost made the Pingry Alumni gathering in Chicago several years ago where you were one of the guests.

Dave Rogers from the Boys of ‘61 has passed on your regards, so maybe I can get there this year.

Regards and Best Wishes
