Short Hills Fun Fair Offers Something For All Ages
May 25, 2006

The PSPA Fun Fair committee members didn’t allow a little deluge to stop them from setting up the annual Fun Fair in the hallways, classrooms, gymnasium, and cafeteria at the Short Hills campus. As the finishing touches were added to the games, rides, and attractions, children began pouring through the front door and spilling into the building with great anticipation.

The gymnasium was filled with huge alien-like inflatable rides with a variety of activities including laser tag, mazes, and slides. The classrooms were transformed into game rooms with “dots” being awarded to the participants for prize redemption. The games were being run by several patient parents and many of the middle and upper school students from the Martinsville campus. These games were simple in nature and very popular—participants scooped up moon rocks (aluminum foil balls), tried to catch falling stars, tossed Frisbees into space, and attempted a space landing with a helium-filled, rocket-shaped inflatable toy. The DJ offered hip-hop dance lessons to nimble dancers, and the artists-in-residence painted little faces. There was pizza, popcorn, cotton candy, soda, and juice for all.

Once again, the parents who served on the Fun Fair committee under the able leadership of Sarah Holman P’09, ’11, ’14 and Joy Smith P’11, ’14, created an afternoon of organized mayhem, great fun, and many good memories.
