Field Day 2005 – Two Campuses, One Pingry, Tons of Fun!
May 24, 2005

The students at the Martinsville campus were gathered on May 17 in the Hauser auditorium, anxiously waiting for their buddies to arrive from Short Hills. The room was awash in red, white, and blue – the team colors for the games to be held.

At last Pingry had all 1,017 students on the same campus. From the smallest kindergarten child to the tallest senior, they were all ready to take the field. Smiles of recognition came across their faces as they greeted their buddies from the December festival.

First order of business was the National Anthem played by the Brass Choir, then the group shot of the entire community on the field. Under sparkling clear skies and a cool breeze, the games began.

The teams competed in such highly skilled games as Sneaker Search, Marble Madness, and Flick the Chicken. Coached by faculty members, each team did their best to outdo their competition. The Sack Race, Carry-All Relay, and Buddy Walkers all required a high degree of teamwork and coordination, which had to be accomplished during fits of laughter.

Lunch was held on the back lawn. Hamburgers, veggie burgers, hotdogs, cold salads, and drinks were served, and the students got a well deserved rest. They were entertained by the Martinsville music groups singing pop hits and toe-tapping melodies.

The final events of the day were the ever popular Tootsie Roll Hunt for the fourth grade and the Relay and Tug-of-War for the fifth and sixth grades and their buddies. Afterwards, there was ice cream for all.

Who won? Everybody!
