Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars
Dr. Edward J. Bloustein, for whom this Distinguished Scholar award is named, was the seventeenth President of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. He served as President of Rutgers for more than eighteen years and directed the Universitys development into one of Americas premier public institutions for undergraduate and graduate education. He was deeply committed to the central role of undergraduate education within a research university, the University's responsibility to encourage participation in public service, and to the value of merit-based scholarships to recognize, support, and promote academic excellence. |

Awarded annually to that senior who demonstrates excellence in the field of photography. The prize is given in honor of Mr. Michael Popp, whose work in the area of photography inspired countless Pingry students. Mr. Popp was a long time chairman of the Art Department and retired in 1994. |

It is a distinct honor to be selected for this scholarship. |
