Juniors Spend Weekend In Boston
March 24, 2004
Each year in March, junior students spend the first weekend of the month visiting the Boston, MA area. This year 58 students joined the three-day trip organized by Dean of Students Joan Hearst. The journey began with a departure from Pingry on the morning of Saturday, February 28 and continued during the early afternoon with bus arrivals at the Boston Aquarium, which included an IMAX show. Following the show, students checked into the Holiday Inn, where they briefly relaxed and socialized. After settling in, it was off to a most enjoyable dinner at the Hard Rock Café.
The excitement of the trip carried over into Sunday morning, when students indulged in a two-hour trolley ride and tour of the Boston area arguably the highlight of the trip. Juniors were able to make historical references to various locales while getting a taste of being in the center of one of the most popular college towns. A glimpse into this potential future was furthered by lunch at Harvard Square. The attraction continued into the evening, which was filled with engaging performances by the popular, avant-garde Blue Man Group.
After a visit to the John F. Kennedy library on Monday morning, the students bid farewell to Boston and all its enticements. While some were eager to return in the future to the excitement found in the area, others were simply content with their arrival back home at good ol Pingry.
