Pingry and NJ SEEDS Nurturing High Achievers
July 18, 2003
Pingry is pleased to announce that students from NJ SEEDS are once again meeting on its Martinsville campus for the 2003 summer session. SEEDS students are high-achieving seventh graders from area public schools who are working hard throughout the summer in hopes of transferring to independent schools in ninth grade. Site dean for the program is Pingry's own Middle School English teacher and assistant director of admission, Marnie McKoy. Two Pingry alumni, Brian Ramirez and Kristen Koernig, and one current Pingry student, Madelka Nunez, are working as interns in the program.
The SEEDS students are taking classes in language arts, math, and science as well as creative writing, which is being team taught by Ramirez and Nunez. Those who are admitted into Phase II of the program will return to Pingry in the fall to attend classes on Saturdays.
The SEEDS summer program runs from June 30 through July 30. Anyone who wishes to get involved should contact Tracy Fredericks at 973-642-6422. Please visit the NJ SEEDS Web site at www.njseeds.org.
