It's Not All Greek To Me: Pingry Students Ace The National Latin Exam
April 24, 2003
No exam is too tough for Pingrys students, including the National Latin Exam. This year, 213 Pingry students who were enrolled in Latin or have completed a course during the current academic year joined the approximately 127,000 students from 50 states and nine foreign countries to take the exam. Testing their proficiency in the language, the exam covered several areas including grammar, reading, and mythology and is sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League.
Of the 170 middle school participants, 72 students received ribbons, certificates, and medals. Pingry middle and upper school students were awarded 7 gold medals and summa cum laude certificates, 18 silver medals and maxima cum laude certificates, 31 magna cum laude certificates, and 10 cum laude certificates.
I think the students performance is testament to the strength of the schools Latin program, Pingry Latin teacher Susan Forrester said.
